I don't understand the difference is. And how you use it. Arent they all just coverupWhat is the difference between concealer/ foundation/ powder.?
Concealer is basically for things you want to ';conceal'; - things like dark circles under the eyes, a pimple/zit or uneven skin tone caused from sunburn or a scar...I use a dot under each eye and blend in before i dust over with some light powder - it works wonders! What is the difference between concealer/ foundation/ powder.?
Concealer offers the most coverage, and it comes in either a liquid or stick formula. This is typically used to ';spot'; treat or applied to small areas of skin, such as under your eyes or on and around a pimple. Concealer can be used alone, under or over foundation, or under powder. It can be applied with a concealer brush or with your finger-tips.
Foundation can offer coverage from sheer (lightest) to moderate (in-between) to full coverage (heavier) and comes in liquid, cream, stick, powder, or cream-to-powder. Foundation can be used to ';spot'; treat or you can apply it all over the face. A very sheer version of foundation is called tinted moisturizer, which is 1/2 foundation and 1/2 moisturizer. Foundation can be used with concealer and powder. Foundation can be applied with finger-tips, a sponge, or a foundation (flat) brush.
Powder comes in two main forms: pressed powder and loose powder. Pressed powder offers more coverage because its generally thicker and is applied with a sponge. Loose powder can be layered to achieve desired coverage, and is usually applied with a large brush. Powder can be layered on top of foundation to ';set'; the foundation, or it can be worn alone. A very popular version of powder is Bare Minerals, which claims to be better for skin and not clog pores, and can be used alone or with foundation and/or concealer.
Yes they're all cover up,but concealer should have more coverage to hide imperfections. I use mine AFTER the foundation %26amp; I use the minerals btw - not those seen on tv either-.
Foundation - if you're using liquid, goes on next.If you do elect to use a mineral foundation-you don't have to go back %26amp; use a face powder-well-you don't anyway - it knocks the shine off %26amp; helps your liquid stay on better. They do make waterproof make-up now that stays on better %26amp; hasn't got the shine some liquids do.
Usually the best way to differentiate the two is that rule of thumb most people use concealer first to dab and cover lightly the imperfections like acne, scars, dark spots, etc... Temptu concealer wheel is the best I've used on scars... but the key for concealers is that it's dependent on foundation which you can cover your whole face with. If you have very oily skin, I wouldn't recommend using MAC's foundation unless you use the MAC Micronized Airbrush foundations (usually used with an airbrush machine and gun).
concealer is used to cover blemishes, freckles, discolorations, moles, and things like that.
you dab the concealer on your undesireable areas, then blend it in. blend it lightly, either with a concealer brush, blending blush, or your finger. when using either of these techniques, have a light hand. also you can apply with a foundation brush if desired.
a foundation covers up the concealer. (the rule is to get a concealer color that is 2 shades lighter than your skin tone). so, the foundation blends in the concealer, gives your skin more pigment, and evens out your skin tone.
a powder sets the foundation. a powder helps the foundation and other makeup stay on, and also most people use powder to take away an oily shine from your face.
Concealer should be one shade LIGHTER then your skin. this is good for under your eyes and on the tip of your nose.
Foudation should the exact same shade of your skin and goes either all over your face ( i don't suggest it) or just on problem area
Powder Goes on after everything besides lip gloss , to set the make-up
concealer is to cover up blemishes such as bags under your eyes, pimples, zitz ect. Foundation is to make sure your whole face is the same color and you use the powder last to stop the foundation from turning oily on your face.
in short
1.concealer-cover up blemishes
2.foundation-whole face ine color
3.powder-stop oil
foundation is for all over your face to give you a nice colour brown look......concealer is for covering up problem areas ie dark circles under the eyes a blemish and powder is when you put on your foundation you need to put on powder after this takes the shine of the foundation away and also just gives you a extra bit of colour.....
fondation is for all over your face..... and that comes in powder or cream whatever you prefer.... and the concealer is to cover up like one or two pimples you might have or whatever..... but you put the concealer on first and then the fondation .... o and concealer usually comes in cream.....
hope thats helps =]
