Can I just use Concealer without foundation?

Can I? I really wanna know. Cause most of the time I do, but there are lots of people saying I should put on foundation first. So? 10 points to the best answer. Can I just use Concealer without foundation?
yes if your skin is good and you only need a little bit of conceler then don't bother with foundation. just make sure you blendeit properly. Can I just use Concealer without foundation?
You can just use concealer. However, it will probably look better with the foundation. It depends on your skin - if you use the concealer and it doesn't stand out too much, then you don't need the foundation. If it's noticeable that you're wearing concealer, then you'll need the foundation to even out the color more - it helps hide the lines between your skin and the concealer.
Of course you can. If your skin is nice enough that you just need to help a couple of spots sure. I used to do that all the time. Just make sure you blend well and that the color is a good match. I still don't use foundation. Just some translucent powder which I put on after the concealer of course.
WAIT, YOUR A GUY?!

YES YOU CAN USE CONCEALER WITHOUT FOUNDATION
Ok look you NEVER need ANY foundation. Just use the conclear and don't spend on foundation.
i only use concealer...b/c my skin is so dry..and concealer blends in perfect and leaves a natural finish...as oppose to the cake build up
I dont use foundation and Im fine ; )

How much does L'oreal's Bare Naturale Foundation and Concealer cost?

I was just wondering if any one knew how much the L'oreal's Bare Naturale concealer and foundation costs on average.

And if I got it would it be better to get new brushes vs the ones that come with the foundation and concealer? How much does L'oreal's Bare Naturale Foundation and Concealer cost?
The Concealer is about $12 and the Foundation is about $15 (that's at my nearest drug store and i live in the u.s if that helps)

The brushes are alright, I'm personally in love with the brushes from Bare Escentuals.. the concealer brush and the one for foundation-kabuki brush.. I love them! I already have them So i use them over brushes that come with other makeups if I am using a different brand for what ever reason.

Loreal's Bare Naturale makeups are great though to be drug store type!!

Whats the different between concealer, foundation and pressed powder?

well i know what concealer is, but when would i use it and so forth?

please make it as detailed as possible.Whats the different between concealer, foundation and pressed powder?
concealer is to cover blemishes like pimples and dark circles under your eyes

foundation is to enhance the appearance of your skin

pressed powder is to set foundation and other makeup

hope i helpedWhats the different between concealer, foundation and pressed powder?
CONCEALER:

Concealer is used to cover up blemishes. This is applied before you put on anything else.

FOUNDATION:

Foundation comes in two forms: liquid and powder. It is important to find a foundation that does not clog pores. For liquid, I reccomend MAC's liquid foundations. Go into a store and they will find your shade and get you a brush. For powder, I reccomend Bare Essentials. It is a mineral powder that does not clog pores, and does not come off easily without makeup remover.
Concealer is for underneath your eyes, it covers up dark circles, lines, and uneven skin color under the eyes. Foundation is for your face, it evens out your skin color, covers up freckles, pimples, whiteheads, blackheads. It skin smooths it. Pressed powder is something people use a base before putting on foundation so it last longer in the day. Some people use either or though. If you use mousse then you don't need both, because it's like having both.
okay. concealer is used to specificaly cover any pimples dark spots or heavy under eye bags.

and foundation just gives a an all same skin tone.

presse powder is basically the sameas foundation but a different form.
foundation is the second step after the concealer. the foundation is the same color as your skin tone and is really the base for your makeup. pressed powder is similar to foundation, its more of a finish and can make your skin look shimmery. it probably depends on the brand. i dont use it.
Concealer should actually be applied AFTER foundation because if you do it before foundation it will just be rubbed off while you're rubbing in your fondation
Foundation: it is for evening out your skin tone and start to make a flawless face

concealer: hides spots blackheads scar and dark circles can also be used to brighten up the eye area

pressed powder: sets the foundation and concealer
concealer is used for light cover up like with dark spots or blemishes. You use it before you put any other makeup on your skin. Foundation is used to cover and even out skin tone,if you have a good complection and even skin tone you dont need it, it just gives you a fresh canvas to apply blush to. Pressed powder also evens skin tone, and helps with shine, and helps seal your foundation and blush. Hope this helps.

What to do after I put on Foundation and Concealer?

Well first I cleanse, tone, and moisturize with SPF.

    Then I apply my concealer.

Then I apply my Liquid Foundation.

Am i supposed to set it with a powder or something after that?

If I am supposed to, what kind is good that won't look cakey. What to do after I put on Foundation and Concealer?
The best kind of setting powder is Mac's Blot powder pressed or loose this sets the make up and will get rid of any oilWhat to do after I put on Foundation and Concealer?
try powder then concealer, when they did my makeup at Bare Escentuals, thats what they did and I have kinda been doing that since then. I use either Physicians Formula Mineral Loose Powder

    http://www.walgreens.com/dbimagecache/26鈥?/a>

    or Sheercover http://www.tvoverstocks.com/images/sheer鈥?/a>

I also bought Maybelline but I havent used it yet

    http://www.specialchem4cosmetics.com/doc鈥?/a>

For my concealer I use The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil Cover Stick, it is supposed to be good for blemishes. http://www.beautybentobox.com/wp-content鈥?/a>

What I do is cleanse %26amp; moisturize

    apply mineral powder

    apply concealer

    use bronzer and blush

You do not typically need liquid foundation because it makes everything cakey. You only need it if you are older, my mom likes to use it, and she is almost 48 but she looks young.
After foundation, you can brush on little TRANSLUCENT powder. It just sets the foundation in place. If you get a powder that is NOT translucent, you can usually tell you are wearing makeup, which sometimes includes looking cakey. Since you are not looking for high coverage, Cover Girl makes great translucent powders! I use these in the summer for a more natural look.
Try a loose translucent powder and LIGHTLY dust it all over. You may need to reapply every so many hours. If you use too much your face will look shiny, then cakey...especially if you sweat. If you don't have a problem with oily skin, then don't set it at all. If you become shiny throughout the day, blot your face with toilet paper, which soaks up oil. I hardly ever use anything to set my foundation or concealor but if I do, I use very light powder.
I hardly use liquid anymore, but if you need a powder for anything, you'll not beat smoky mountain minerals , it's good for your skin %26amp; your pocket book.

use a good brush, which you can buy at a local drug store or wal-mart, bare minerals is ok but you may have to glue it back together, as i did mine. Don't use their make-up tho, full of bismuth !
i would almost say you should apply the concealer, but then mix a little of the foundation into the moisturizer for like a tinted moisturizer. Then you don't really need a powder to set it. It looks more dewy and natural that way.
After those steps apply a light translucent powder- the best by far is Laura Mercier. The powedr will make it set and last all day. It will also prevent shine. Laura Mercier tyranslucant powder does not look cakey at all and will not clog your skin either.

    Good luck
yes, set it with powder, but the good type would be the sheer powder, they got that in MAC, Laura Mercier, and every other brands. I see some people lightly dust baby powder on top and it looks great too!
Try Elizabeth Arden's Ceramide Setting Powder. I use it every day and it makes your skin look flawless!! It comes in different shades too! It has optical diffusers and wont settle down into your pores or lines. Give it a try!
I hope you're not a guy, but you use powder to set the makeup, choose oil free kind if your skin is oily and moisturizing kind if your skin is dry.
i have heard of a powder foundation.
i've never known guys to wear foundatation

Know of a good foundation and concealer?

I have a limited budget. (i'm 18) so i can't spend a lot. Do you know of a good concealer and foundation? What form of concealer is the best? Tube, roll on? I've used the tube form and it doesn't work well. Its very hard to run in. I appreciate any tips. Thanks!Know of a good foundation and concealer?
I like Prescriptives foundation - they have a half-dozen or so different foundation formulations (sheerer or heavier coverage, moisturizing or oil-free, etc.) and wide range of colors. If you go to a Prescriptives counter, they'll find your perfect color match by doing what (I believe) they call ColorPrinting (it's been a while, and I already know what color I am). It is amazing to see how invisible the right color foundation becomes on your skin!

The formulations are in the $30-$40 range, but at your age, you shouldn't need a lot of foundation. That bottle should last you a good 4-6 months.

If your skin is in such bad shape that you really will use a lot of foundation, consider investing in something to help clear your skin up. ProActive is supposed to be great for that, but I've never tried it personally (I don't need it, but if I had skin problems, that's what I'd try first).

What are you using the concealer for - zits or undereye circles? I would try Mario Badescu's drying lotion (http://www.mariobadescu.com/productDetai鈥?/a> to heal the blemishes that foundation won't hide. If the latter, be careful about using something heavy (whose application will require a lot of rubbing) on the area under your eyes - the skin there is very delicate (it has no sebaceous glands to produce the oils that protect your skin) and you don't want to damage it. Try to minimize dark circles by getting enough sleep and drinking enough water.Know of a good foundation and concealer?
clinique, i've found out, works the best and it's very moderately priced.

it depends on what type of skin you have. i have combination skin so i use clinique's multi-balance liquid foundation but lately i've taken to using their translucent powder instead of any foundation at all (it works wonders! especially for oily skin)

go talk to a person working at the clinique booth- they'd love to help you!

(the best thing though, is not having to wear concealer and foundation at all! make sure you always ALWAYS wash your face after wearing makeup to prevent clogged up pores and breakouts)
    Less is more.

Try bare minerals products, at Bare Escentuals. The foundations are around 25 bucks.

MAC also makes a good product called Studio Fix. It provides maximum coverage. I think theirs is around 20 bucks.

Even cheaper than that, try foundation in the jar made by Loreal. They are owned by the same parent company as Estee Lauder. Stick concealer works best...just dot it lightly where you want, then blend gently with your ring finger.
Application of the concealer is key.....remember to PAT not rub......
Mac is always the best way to go, Sephora is really good but expensive.
I use Clinique. I don't know what your budget is though.
Bobby Brown makes a good concealer (particularly for under eyes). It's not cheap, but it does work well and last awhile.
tube concealer is better b.c the area under ur eyes is sensitive....dont use foundation....use powder instead!...that's what i do...i apply concealer (i use clinique)(but cheaper one i think l'oreal is the best brand for it) then i apply powder(l'oreal) over my face...foundation causes pimples!
Revlon Color Stay makeup....it's about $13, but it's so worth it and it lasts forever! Just check out all their colors and match it up with your skin color. I love that stuff....all Revlon's color stay products are awesome!
Benefit Cosmetics Boi-ing works great work me. I have very dark circles and I'm able to hide them for the most part. Is best when applied with a brush (concealer brush - means not to big not too small), but different things work for different people. The best thing would be for you to go somewhere like Sephora where you can try on different things. The cost is $18.00.

PS: I've also heard that Physician Formula is good, try going to Ulta Cosmetics and asking for advice.
I use MAC Products but Maybeline has good products too.
most people dont need such thick concealor as a tube, especially since you are young. try a cream type in a pot, such as studio gear. physicians formula also has LOTS of good different concealers. for under your eyes, you will want to use a yellow or reflective pigmented concealer. for blemishes, use a green based concealer to combat the redness. hope this helps!
Try Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse........it works wonders and isnt pricely......it works...............i luv it!!!!!!!!!!!

What is your favorite concealer and foundation?

How to choose from so many brands of concealers and foundationWhat is your favorite concealer and foundation?
definantly not something from a walmart or just cheap makeup (covergirl, maybelline, even dept store stuff like MAC)...i used to wear that and then i went to college and learned about all the chemicals in the things we as women put on our skin and body...i started wearing bare minerals, (not to be confused with perscriptives or other imitations) and i love it sooo much...my skin looks better and it feels so much better on your skin than liquid foundation, and i'm not putting yucky stuff on my skin!!What is your favorite concealer and foundation?
yves saint lauren...the best though expensive
i like clinque it doesn't break you out it is a little expensive but it will last at least six months or longer
cover girl is good and cheap
i'm not a fan of overpriced designer cosmetics. the new cover girl aquasmooth compact is excellent - lasts all day. for concealer, try physician's formula (also at the local drugstore) - they make various shades and products for correcting both bluish and reddish imperfections.
Bare Escentuals is what I use but I've used MAC and that is nice as well.
my favourite is max factor panstick, i use number 13 as a base and 14 over to slighty darken i really like it and have used for a few years now because its cheap and spreads so so easily. try it :0)
i used to wear chanel, but then discovered bare minerals and loved it.
bare minerals..i am 55 and have used just about all the brands since i started using make-up. i also have done make-up for the theater. this brand has just blown me away..and i spread the news.
I use Neutrogena - and have been very happy with it. I use the skin clearing formula.
    Iam a Clinique fan
I like Dermablend - but it is very hard to find, and expensive. I have uneven skin, so this works best for concealing the imperfections.
revlon colorstay concealer.maxfactor color adopt foundation.
    Origins.
Bae Minerals/ Bare Essentuals.... same thing
In high school I used Cover Girl and whatever was affordable. I recently started to use Bare Escentual/Bare Minerals after seeing all the info-mercials on TV. It was good, until summer came along. I noticed no matter how light or heavy I put it on that when I would sweat it would seep into the pores or lines in my face. I have since found Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse. They have so many colors so you're bound to find one for you. I use the Maybelline concealer with the wand also. Don't need powder on top either. If you put it on light you can still see your freckles, or for the more covered look, apply a little heavier. Doesn't ever look like a cake's on your face though. It's affordable and worth it.
Arbonne International offers foundation in three forms: liquid (but goes on dry), mineral powder, and a creme stick. They also offer concealer in a tube. The best though is an under foundation/concealer powder in a compact. It is great for red, ruddy, scarred, dark circles, whatever the skin flaw. You put it on first, then do your regular make-up routine. It also cuts down on oilness in my T-zone area. I love it! If you would like to know more about these products or more, contact me at sunnyside_64@yahoo.com. I would love to show you how to get 35% off the retail price and get it shipped straight to your door. Good luck!
I use Neutrogena..and it works just fine..not too expensive either
Mary Kay. It's one of those brands kind of like AVON, where the women sell it from home. The shades match perfectly to almost any skin tone and it's so light when you apply it, you can hardly feel it's there. I know I'll never use anything else ever again. It's a little more expensive than brands like Cover Girl but not quite as expensive as the department store brands. Plus, you get more for your money.

What is the basic difference between foundation and concealer?

concealer is heavier and thicker to cover any kind of diffrence in your skin like pimples or dark circles under your eyes

foundation is lighter and is used to even out your skin toneWhat is the basic difference between foundation and concealer?
Foundation provides a base for your other makeup. It goes over your entire face. It evens out your skin tone and provides a clean slate for your face.

Concealer is used to cover-up any blemishes, under-eye circles, etc on your face. You apply this after foundation.

If you just want to cover up a few bumps, I would just use a little concealer. Just dab it on and apply a little powder on top of it.

If you want more coverage, then you should put on foundation first then apply your concealer.

The Neutrogena products should work well. Just make sure you get a color that matches your skin tone as close as possible.

For more info about picking out concealer and foundation, go to this site:

http://beauty.about.com/od/foundationsco鈥?/a>What is the basic difference between foundation and concealer?
Foundation well as it says it basic thing or foundation for your whole make up but concealer is used to hide particular dark or ugly spot and give them the shade of your skin or foundation
well foundations for your whole face while as concealer is for blemishes/imperfections. spots you want to brighten up or hide.

Is concealer and foundation bad for your skin?

I want to use concealer but I heard its bad for your skin and so is foundation. I don't want to get more acne. So is it really bad for your skin? And I use the CoverGirl-clean make up one.

So please help me out. Thanks :)Is concealer and foundation bad for your skin?
Well that depends really. Anything you put on your face (that is not an oil free lotion) can lead to acne depending on how prone you are to breaking out. If you really want to cover up blemishes though, you need to look into mineral make up. It's natural and does not clog up your skin. Your dermatologist might even be able to recommend some that will also help clear up acne while covering it up.

Some stores, mainly your grocery store or local pharmacy can offer you a lower quality mineral make up. Those you buy from the grocery store or pharmacy are only a tad bit better than plain concealer/foundation.

If you are very concerned, then you need to spend the extra buck at a department store or make up store such as a Sephora. ';Bare Escentuals Bare Minerals'; is one example of a brand of mineral make up. It lasts much longer than plain make up though it does cost more. So in the end you are paying about the same (ie, bare mineral make up is the cost of two things of plain make up but mineral make up lasts twice as long)

So it's all up to you and how much you are willing to spend. The least you can do for yourself though is move to the grocery store brand minerals.

Good luck =)Is concealer and foundation bad for your skin?
using concealer and foundation is perfectly fine to wear during the day, as long as you completely wash it off your face at night.

some concealers or foundations might break you out if you have sensitive skin, if so, then you'll have to try out various ones to see which works best for your skin.

but if you don't have sensitive skin, then you're perfectly fine.
Its only bad if you dont wash it off at night before you go to bed. It will give you wrinkle over time and possibly acne. Sooo, just wash it off. And wash your face 2 times. First time gets the makeup off, and second cleanses the skin. Trick i learned from Petrilude :)

It depends what kind of skin you have, my mom says that i should only wear concealer/foundation when im going out and want to look fancy. Otherwise you should let your skin breathe, because concealer and foundation can clog your pores.
It depends on the brand you use. Cheap brands often have harsh ingredients and not enough money to do research. I recommend bare minerals for both. The starter kit is a great value and lasts a really long time and it's actually good for your skin.
You should use something called a primer. It helps set your face %26amp; protect your skin. Not all foundations clog your pores. Read the description before you buy it so you know if it's good for you or not.
foundation is cakey and clogs pores therefore its bad for your skin

you need to use mineral makeup it's light and better if you have acne
use neutragena oil free foundation. It gives your skin a flawless look and doesn't clog pores. Its really nice, it actually is suppost to fight pimples, zits and acne
Yeah, that's why every girl in the world has been using it for 200 years.

Because it's bad for your skin.
Yea it clogs your pores which causes breakouts.
    They clog your pores

Can you wear just concealer, foundation, and bronzer without a finishing powder?

Absolutely! You dont need to wear a finishing powder, it is just a nice touch to soften the look of your makeup, and it will help to keep your face in place longer, but it is not necessary.

Finishing powder is an excellent way to keep the oil down if you have very oily skin, but you want to be careful with finishing powder as most are made with cornstarch, which will dry out your skin.

Dior makes a fabulous finishing powder that is made from rice powder - gives you the sheen without the shine. It is expensive, but it will last you forever. Can you wear just concealer, foundation, and bronzer without a finishing powder?
yeah of courseCan you wear just concealer, foundation, and bronzer without a finishing powder?
Sure, I like this look too!And a good foundation will hold up without the powder. The bronzer helps to set it too.
    Yes you can =]
Yes you can but the finishing powder keeps the makeup on longer and makes it look more natural.
    Well yeah nobody's stopping you.
of course! finishing powder only gives it an extra POW!
as long as it looks natural
Yeah you can but its better with the powder
I do, but finishing does help tie it all together. It really doesn't matter. As long as you put everything on evenly, it should look fine. Just be sure not to overdo it-- then it just looks trashy %26amp; fake.

    : )
you can but the powder sets the colors in and gives it the finishing touch
    Yes you can.
Of course, if your skin is not on the oily side. Powder absorbs oil, so if you have oily skin you want to consider using it.
    Yes you can

In what order should I apply my MAC foundation and concealer after primer?

I use Studio Fix Powder and Studio Finish Concealer, and I always put the concealer on first, as the MAC makeup artist told me to. I am now using Smashbox Photofinish primer. Should I keep putting my concealer on first or could that affect how the concealer goes on? Or should I apply my powder foundation first? In what order should I apply my MAC foundation and concealer after primer?
    1. Primer, it primes the face (Given you probably know this =) )

    2. Concealer, to hide the blemishes

    3. Foundation to cover the concealer and any redness or dark circles peeping through the concealer as well as uneven skin tone color ...etc.

    4. Powder, to set everything and ensure it will stay

Hope this helps =)In what order should I apply my MAC foundation and concealer after primer?
Shortcut in case you are lazy -

    =]

    Primer-Concealer-Powder

Okay, primer definately goes on before everything, but you know that.

Once you have that smoothed out evenly over your entire face you should do concealer.

Since you are using Studio Finish which is a cream, it should smooth on pretty easily over your primer since primers essentially fill in yoiur pores so your skin is completely smooth. So the primer won't hurt your concealer application at all, it is definately helpful.

Since you use a powder foundation it should always come last. Powder sets liquids or creams so that they last longer, so when you apply your powder foundation you are setting your concealer.

If you did it the reverse way, concealer over powder it wouldn't go on nearly as smooth and also wouldn't last as long.

If you think about it, the formulas need to match, smashbox photofinish is a cream/liquid, so it should be followed by a cream/liquid product, wether it be concealer or foundation.

Of course, if you didn't use concealer at all you could just apply your foundation, but that is beside the point.

Powders and liquids don't mix well, think of it like this: have you ever heard of someone powdering before they apply their foundation? No. You always powder AFTER foundation, that is essentially what you are doing, powdering after your concealer, even though in your case your powder is a foundation.

    Okay, now I am rambling.

In short, powder always comes last, always, wether it be foundation or just setting powder.

Concealer can go after foundation, but only if it is a liquid or cream foundation, since you use powder, it comes before foundation.

That's all have to say really, sorry for my rambling.
The way a lot of people do it is like this:

You always put Primer on first, and then you use the concealer undereyes. (its supposed to be lighter than your foundation) but youre using a powder foundation, so you won't need a separate concealer for undereyes, really, though its better. (most people have 2 concealers, one - two lighter shades than foundation for undereye, then one same color as foundation for blemishes.)

So put the primer on, and use your finger/brush to pat some of the powder on undereyes, and blend it. If you have 2 concealers, use the lighter one undereye now.

    Then apply Foundation.

After, see if you even need to conceal your blemishes.

The reason you do it after is because you see where you need to conceal more. You don't need to conceal a small blemish before foundation if the foundation can cover it up on its own.

But, if you have a zit, like a big one kinda, conceal it BEFORE foundation so the foundation ensures that it stays covered.
I know this is going to kill your dreams but I suggest NOT using a Primer in the summer, your makeup is more prone to coming loose because of the heat/moisture.

The primer may cause your makeup to clump up so just skip that.

From what you listed you are not using a foundation right? Well anyway if you are you really don't need to, the Studio Fix powder is really FULL coverage powder. I agree with the artist, apply the Concealer first, try blending it in with either a conealer brush or for larger areas I reccomend either a Sigma 190 ( sigmamakeup.com) or a MAC 190. Then apply your powder over it. I would suggest a finishing powder for touchups rather than using more Studio Fix. It can get cakey after awhile.
it depends on what color your concealer is? If its lighter that do it first like the makeup tech told you..

I just put my concealer on after because I feel that it gives better coverage that way and just blend it out with my brush.

Typically, if you are using a powder you don't want to apply a liquid/cream over that..

The motto to live by while applying makeup is to go from most wet(moisturizer, primer, liquid foundation) to driest(setting powder, powder foundation, mineralized foundation).

So, after all that, I think that you should stick to what the makeup artist told you, or until you switch up your routine... :)
Over the years, I have talked to several MAC makeup artists:

they all tell you different things about whether to put on foundation on first or concealer.

I prefer first foundation then primer. the reason is simple:

if you apply your foundation first, you are less likely to apply too much concealer so that it will look all more natural.

but in the end: do whatever you are comfortable with and what gives you your fav result. There are no hard and fast rules in makeup!!!!
From experience, primer, then the most liquid product to the least liquid product. If you apply powder products before creams or liquids you chance it looking cakey, which is not a cute look. I would suggest that you use your primer, then your concealer and then you powder foundation.
You should moisturize your face first, let your moisturizer absorb into your skin, wait like 10mins, and then apply your primer, let that settle in for a few minutes. Since you're wearing powder foundation, use your concealer before you apply your foundation, so your foundation will set the concealer as well..
Personally, i'd put on the powder first, because when you apply the concealer and then the powder sometimes the concealer gets wiped away, which means you have to re apply the concealer all over again. So i'd apply primer - foundation - concealer
Since your foundation is a powder, you put cream products under it. You always put cream to cream, powder to powder. But you can set creams with powders. So do your cream primer, cream concealer, then powder foundation.
If you apply the foundation first and then you apply the concealer, you`ll look more natural. If you think it`s enough then no need for powder, you decide.
You should use the primer first and let that set into your skin before you put on your concealer and powder. The primer will actually smoothe out your skin beforehand letting you have a nice surface to put makeup on! =)
Apply the smashbox photofinish first, the concealer, and last powder foundation because the powder will set everything and give you a fresh look.
    1) Primer

    2) Concealer

    3) Powder foundation

If you were to use a liquid or cream foundation then you would apply concealer after foundation
i think you should put the primer on first, then the concealer, then your powdered foundation.
    primer is always firsts

Since your using powder foundation use the concealer first if u dont it might end up looking cakey..
    primer, concealer, foundation
    primer, foundation, concealer.
    primer, concealer, powder.
    primer,

    foundation

    concealer.
    primer

    concealer

    foundation
i say you try both out and then see which outcome is better

    Yes you can

What brushes should i use for applying foundation and concealer?

I'm new to this and im going to sephora in 2 days and i need to know what brushes should i get. PLEASE be SPECIFIC, down to the brush # name etc. What brushes should i use for applying foundation and concealer?
Personally, I feel the bareMinerals Get Started kit is a screaming deal. It's $60, you get three brushes that would cost about $60 if you bought them separately - so it's like you're getting all the makeup for free.

The Kabuki brush is perfect for full coverage and the concealer brush is the best I've ever used! Seriously - it camouflages my undereye circles with just the foundation powder - I don't need any Multi-tasking Minerals.

What brushes should i use for applying foundation and concealer?
this is the foundation brush i use from sephora (their brand) http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jh鈥?/a> its also on sale right now for 10$. i love it. its used for liquid foundation.

for powders, i recommend a kabuki style brush. its also great to have for buffing out your foundation. makes everything more blended out and even.

i don't really use a concealer brush, i use my fingers but you should use a brush like this http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jh鈥?/a> if you prefer a brush. i'm assuming you use a cream concealer? you should check out makeupforever's concealer palette (its also sold at sephora), its a little pricey but worth it. here's the link http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jh鈥?/a>
FOundation, if youre using a loose powder, get a KABUKI BRUSH. Its a giant fluffly one.

Concealer is a small one. Usually, at Sephora, they have labels on them so you dont have to spend so much time guessing.

    The sephora brushes are amazing!

the bare Minerals Kabuki brush is really great too
I dont really know. Id ask the employees.

But for foundation, sponges work really good.
just ask the employees there they would be more than happy to help you!

What's a good foundation and concealer from a drugstore?

Okay, well I have a bunch of stuff from from Clinique but I don't have foundation and my mom won't let me buy anymore high end stuff. So I am going to buy some drugstore kind from taget. I NEED to know the absolute best kind of foundation for oily acne prone skin. And also concealer. Please help because I need to know what to get when we go there. What's a good foundation and concealer from a drugstore?
I'd say Cover Girl ultimate finish (liquid powder make-up) would be excellent for your skin, it is light %26amp; covers great !

As for concealer, I would go with Wet n' Wild (Cover All).

I use both of these products and they work wonderfully!

I hope I was of use to you :)

Good Luck !What's a good foundation and concealer from a drugstore?
I'm a big fan of L'Oreal True Match and Revlon Colorstay. I have oily skin, easily acne prone. L'Oreal True Match has a wide color selection and it will usually blend in with your skin color. But Revlon is best to use in summer as they don't rub off easily, and they have formulas for oily skin as well.
    Covergirl trublend :)

Hides some oil on skin and is silky light :D

It's great too because multiple shades work for your skin tone.

And if you have dry skin..

    Try Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse

It's silky light texture is fluffy! And it makes dry skin less dry.

    Concealer:

Well I dont use concealer but I heard covergirl concealer is good.
CoverGirl Clean Oil Control (it has a blue cap)

It is less than $5 everywhere I've seen it, and it stays matte. It is really thick, so be aware of that.

    http://www.covergirl.com/products/produc鈥?/a>
for foundation try maybelline cream foundation, and 4 concealer i can't really tell u because i don't use it :)
I would say L'oreal Bare Naturale mineral foundation.
    proactiv(sorry it's not at a drugstore)
    physicians
    MAYBELLINE DREAM MATTE MOUSSE

    I live by this stuff!
    i love loreal....works wonders...however i prefer mac products only...

Does the Revlon Colorstay foundation and concealer really last for 16 hours?

I have combination of oily skin and was thinking about buying it. The foundation i'm using now Covergirl True Blend doesn't last very long.Does the Revlon Colorstay foundation and concealer really last for 16 hours?
Yes, it does. I love the ColorStay line. The lipsticks are great too, and so is the eyeliner.

  • What foundation or concealer works best with men?

I get pimples sometimes but they are generally harmless. I just want to cover the tiny red spots on my face. I don't know what they are. Mini-pimples? I also have some pimple scars. Thanks a lot! What foundation or concealer works best with men?
There's nothing wrong with a guy using makeup so don't listen to these girls. Go to a department store counter and ask them to help you. Maybe ask for a stick form because it's easier to apply. When you buy quality and they show you how to use it, it's not detectable. If it makes you feel better about yourself then I say do what you want!!What foundation or concealer works best with men?

Body Shop has got the BEST concealer. I think Bobby Brown will come second in place. Body Shop's concealers are in crayon-stick liked shape and you can sharpen it when you need to use more. It comes in different shades too. This is the BEST concealer I've ever used before. Previously, Body Shop offers a range of concealers that comes in lipstick liked form of shapes but the design fails %26amp; alot of unused concealer will be left over inside it, which causes alot of wastage. I told many of friends to use Body Shop's concealers and they also agreed that it's good. As for Bobby Brown, it comes in round container and in 2 sizes (Big or Small), available in many shades. But their prices are expensive. For the small container, it costs SGD $40. Forget to mention, Bobby Brown won No.1 Best Concealer before. Make your choice and try it out in stores.
At my theater when guys need makeup (it does happen!), we use powder foundation. Just a drugstore foundation will work.

Tinted moisturizer may do the trick as well.

    Ellen Marie
Whatever you do...males DO NOT USE MAKEUP! Don't bother covering it up just use a facial cleanser daily, it should cure in a short amount of time.
If you are into this thing of using makeup, and don't mind people think you are weird, I would sugest a concealer with salicilic acid or benzoil peroxide to treat the acne, in a color that matches your skin. nWith a green undertone, so it neutralizes the redness.

Does L'Oreal Bare Naturale Mineral Concealer/Foundation work for COMBINATION SKIN?

I have mild acne around my t-zone (forehead down to nose/chin area) but my cheeks are flawless. I have some redness and definitely large pores.Does L'Oreal Bare Naturale Mineral Concealer/Foundation work for COMBINATION SKIN?
Yes you can. More important is that you cleanse your skin properly.

Does loreal true match concealer and foundation work well on skin with acne scars and acne?

    yup i think it does

Is it okay to use mineral foundation over concealer?

Is it okay to apply powder foundation directly over concealer on oily skin?

Is it better to use liquid or powder foundation on oily skin?Is it okay to use mineral foundation over concealer?
On oily skin It is better to use a powder which absorbs the oil and makes you less shiny, but these can give you less coverage. You could try foundation and then dusting powder over the top of it for a matte flawless finish!

It's fine to use concealer underneathe your foundation, I always apply my concealer before i put my foundation on, just on my problem areas which need a bit more coverage.

Personally I love benefit's Boi-ing concealer ( i use number 2_) It works fab on my skin, doesn't make me any more oily, or does it make me spotty. Give it a try!!

Good LuckIs it okay to use mineral foundation over concealer?
Bellaphoria Supreme Elegance foundation is great for oily skin, no primer or concealer needed. It lasts all day, and is matte, doesn't look powdery either... It's also food for your skin, and healing...I will never buy anything else... http://www.bellaphoria.com
    yeah its fine

just make sure the makeup is oil free, with spf
yes. infact, u should do that.

u can use a heavy liquid foundation as a concealer.

    How will foundation/concealer affect acne?

I want to start wearing founation or concealer to cover up my acne but im worried it will make it worse. If it does is there anything i can do to cover it without making me breakout? How will foundation/concealer affect acne?
I am not sure with today's formulas- in my day they would clog pores. However a great alternative would be bare minerals or the like. Many people with acne swear by it.How will foundation/concealer affect acne?
There are foundations developed especially for people with acne. Try to find a concealer that contains salicylic acid, as this fights acne and is an ingredient in many acne-fighting cleansers. If you like, try using a very light dusting of concealing powder for a finish over your foundation, as this will cut shine and absorb excess oil. I also recommend using oil absorbing sheets a couple times a day--these will soak up oil without messing up your makeup. Make sure that you wash your brushes with a gentle soap at least once a week as well, since bacteria from your face can make you break out too. Another option would be to use a powder only, but while these absorb oil and look less shiny, they offer less coverage.
get bare minerals. its nice and light. no way should you wear liquid. way to heavy. BARE MINERALS is key.
The absolute best makeup to wear for acne prone skin is mineral make up. It has great (not clumpy or greasy looking) coverage, is a natural anti-inflammitory, doesn't clog your pores, and is actual good for your skin. There are many websites with this type of makeup, I have not had luck with any store brands, so invest in a better grade.
    Hello!

Well I can tell you of something you can use to totally help and get rid of your acne. It won't happen over night, but it will happen in about 2-3 months without a doubt with continual improvement along the way. It's Arbonne's Clear Advantage system. It's a wash, toner, lotion and dietary supplement to work on your skin from the inside out. Their products do not have any mineral oil and is botanically based which means they are loaded with antioxidants. You must try this, you will be very pleased. They also have foundation in 3 forms (liquid, color wand or mineral powder) and it will not clog your pores but is formulated to build healthy skin with it also being botanically based. Arbonnes philosophy is pure, safe and beneficial. You can see a before and after picture on the site listed under my source.
Very light makeup is exactly what you should use. I know from experience that acne is a very embarrasing part of life and sometimes you don't really want to ';face'; the world. But concealer will help a great deal. Using thick or liquidy concearlers will clog your pores and cause bacteria to build up causing more acne to break out. Hyperalogenic concearler is the best because it is very gentle on your skin. Powdered foundation is always the best but do not pack it on or else it will make you look fake. Try some products out to see what is best.
    Hi,

I totally know where you're coming from. I struggled with really, really bad acne about 2 years ago. Intially I tried tetra-cyclin and retin-a. However, my skin got freakishly dry and I started getting a weird rash on my face.

I quickly stopped taking them and tried Proactive. That sure was a waste of money. I finally started showering directly after the gym and found that this helped tremendously. I also tried a free product I got on the net called Beautiful Skin. Believe it or not, it worked way better than the prescription stuff! I only paid $4.95 for shipping for a month supply. I re-ordered and I use it to make sure I don't get back my zits. It also has tea tree oil which feels really good on my skin.

Here's the link if you want to get it, I think it's the best thing I've ever bought for the price $4.95

    http://www.alllsite.info/beautiful-skin.鈥?/a>

    Good Luck!
I wear concealer, and don't have too many pimples. Make sure you have non oily cover - up! You have to face the facts, Make- up does clog your pores, and in order to let your skin breathe you really shouldn't wear make-up, particularly foundation. Liquid foundation it THE WORST!!! If you want to wear foundation. Put concealer on underneath and then put powder foundation lightly on top.

And maybe add a bit of blush! However only do this if you make sure you wash it off every morning! And make sure you wash your face every morning and EVERY NIGHT! Never sleep in make-up!

    Karina
Don't put any makeup until you solve acne problem.
if u get good foundation, then u will be ok
Neutragena makes a fantastic foundation that is not very thick and is made for acne treatment throughout the day. If you buy the wrong kind you could possibly clog your pores so just be careful.
I dont advise wearing foundation/concealer over acne break outs

as it clogs the pores worse than it already is. I would truly advise you to go to your local doctor %26amp; ask for a perscription to clear your acne up first. Dont be shy about going to the doctor about this condition as alot of people suffer from it in one stage of there life.

    Good luck.
it clogs the pores worse than it already is
i am studying to be a make up artist and i would recondmend using loreal or netrougenas foundation that also helps prevent acne
To not make it worse, make sure to get an oil-free foundation, and always remove makeup before sleeping.

What exactly is the difference between foundation and concealer?

Foundation is coverage for the entire face, to help even out your color and provide a nice, even base for your makeup.

Concealer is for covering up small areas, like zits, scars, or undereye areas. It goes on first, underneath your foundation.

---%26gt;Good Luck! What exactly is the difference between foundation and concealer?
There is a huge difference. Concealer is just dabbed on dark circles, red spots, pimples, scars... little (remember small) imperfections on your face that you want to 'conceal' or cover. Foundation is applied all over the face to even out the skin tone such as evening out freckles. What exactly is the difference between foundation and concealer?
concealer is used for blimishes, bags under your eyes, or any other inperfections you have.

But foundation is used for your whole face to even everything out.

i use my concealer under my foundation and when i don't have to wear foundation i just use concealer.
foundation gives you a bit of color, is applied all over the face and can be applied to the neck too. Basically it evens out your skin..

concealer hides your spots and blemishes. makes your skin look flawless.
Concealer is used to basically conceal anything on your face that you'd like to not be seen, such as acne, scars, redness, whereas foundation is for evening your skin tone out.
concealer is used to cover blemishes and other imperfections. get it? conceal? foundation is used to even out the entire tone of your face and to get rid of redness and to serve as a foundation.
Foundation is meant to be used in the entire face to match your skin tone and make it look more toned and even, and concealer to be used on dark circles and other little marks on face.
Foundation is meant to even out your skin tone, and most people apply it to their whole face. Concealer is more for blemishes and small imperfections.
Foundation is a lighter consistency, whereas concealer products are more dense in pigments to cover problem areas, such as under-eye circles or blemishes.
foundation is meant for your whole face

while concealer is just meant for

    little imperfections

foundation evens ur skin tone and concealer hides red spots

  • Should I use foundation and concealer that is the same brand?

I love my Clinique foundation but they don't make a matching concealer to meet my needs should I buy concealer from a different brand?Should I use foundation and concealer that is the same brand?
it shouldn't matter really i use different ones and i find that it is ok so why notShould I use foundation and concealer that is the same brand?
It probably doesn't matter what brand you use as long as it is in the same color family, it will be ok.
It can be from a different brand - it doesn't matter at all.

What brand of foundation and concealer should i use?

My chin and nose are quite oily and end up shiny by the end of the day, but i have some dry patches on my cheeks that sometimes look flaky even although I always use moisturiser.

Right now I use L'oreal True Match liquid foundation and powder with Maybelline coverstick. It's okay, but it makes my skin look a bit patchy.

Can anyone suggest a good brand that costs around 拢10?What brand of foundation and concealer should i use?
I swear by this concealer called CoverBlend by Exuviance. It won't seep into lines on your face and covers redness, dark circles, etc without effort. You can find this in most Dermatologists offices or at BeautyFirst stores. I also use Cliniques pressed powder and their foundations are equally as good. Clinique can be found at most department stores such as Dillards, Younkers, Von Maur, etc.

Why does my foundation and concealer flake when I put it on?

Ok every time I put on concealer or foundation it always flakes in places like under my eye, or the nose. If not, it looks sort of scaly and not smooth. Can anybody tell me why? And I'm using products from well known companies like Clinique and Covergirl. I'm also using my fingers to put it on, if that makes a difference?

So what should I do?Why does my foundation and concealer flake when I put it on?
make sure you exfoliate your skin because make up will dry it out a bit and if there are little bits of dead skin it will look a bit scaly. b sure to use a moisturiser and was off you make up at the end of each day!Why does my foundation and concealer flake when I put it on?
I have the same problem with concealer. I'm thinking that it's old. Try Chanel. I believe them to be smooth and moist. You can try a concealer brush too.
Before you put on your make up make sure your face is clean and use a moisturizer. Wait at least ten minutes before putting on your foundation. If you apply make up too soon after moisturing or cleansing it can be pushed out of your pores causing it to flake. Using a non-latex sponge can also help reduce flaking.
If your makeup is fresh that shouldnt happen. I even have old tubes that Ive had for a long time and they dont do that...unless my skin is dry.. I believe that is the problem here. Even if it doesnt look visibly dry, it might be, which makes liquid foundation look awful. I use St. Ives apricot scrub and LOTS of lotion or aloe vera gel. I hope this helps...also, if you see your skin is a little flaky, dont put powder on too, this is a surefire way to make it look even worse.
Sounds like either you have dry skin, you're putting on too much makeup, or both.

Before you put foundation on, you should prep your skin. Wash with a mild scrub (Oil of Olay Regenerist Warming scrub is amazing) and follow with moisturizer. A good one I've found is Neutrogena Oil Free Moisture. This will help your makeup go on more smoothly by getting rid of dead skin cells and hydrating new ones.

Second, the kind of makeup you use is important--meaning if it's formulated for your skin type. Name brands have very little to do with anything. You could be using Dior foundation, but if it's formulated for oily skin and you have dry skin, it isn't going to look good.

If you're using cream-to-powder or just plain powder formulas, I'd ditch them for a creamier alternative.
You might just be a little dry in those areas. Try dabbing some extra virgin olive oil on the area after you wash your face, before you put on makeup and a little heavier when you go to bed. Make sure to dab your concealer... not rub.
    maybe it's old

    never happened to me
it's either old, or you have dry skin. use a face moisterizer or lotion before putting it on. if that doesn't work buy new make up
It sounds like a classic case of dry skin. I have it as well, and here is my rountine-

I scrub my face really well everyother day with an apricot scrub by St. Ives ( you can get it just about anywhere- and you can get it for sensitive skin, dry skin, the whole nine yards)

Every day I use Sea-Breeze on my face to help clean out the pores. Once my face dries, I use a toner on my skin to help even out the overall tone and pore consistency. After that, I apply a light layer of face moisturizer. I know it's old school, but I like Oil of Olay. It's light on my skin and doesn't make my pores feel gross. After that, I apply my make-up.

Also, if the shower is before bed, and not to start the day, I put a good layer of moisturizer on and that's it!!! And don't forget your neck!!

And, to remove your make-up, I like those face cloths that you get wet and they lather up. Or, what works in a pinch for stubborn eye make-up and mascera is good old conditioner! It's cheap and right there!
Ok this happens when you apply make up to dry skin. Your skin needs moisture try using clinique 1,2,3 step guide it's amazing also clinque have a product called moisture surge extra thirsty skin relief you put it on before you put on ur foundation.//x
it's because your skin is sensitive and dry..mix it with a little moisturizing unscented lotion

How can cakey, fake looking skin be avoided when wearing foundation concealer etc?

What is the best method to choosing and wearing foundation to avoid looking disgustingly cakey, dry, mask like , artificial, etc...so on and so forth, What brands of make up including foundation, powder, and perhaps concealer looks the least cakiest? How can cakey, fake looking skin be avoided when wearing foundation concealer etc?
The best way is to apply devils food liberally (Not conservatively, that is evil!!). Hope that helps. How can cakey, fake looking skin be avoided when wearing foundation concealer etc?
The keys to good foundation coverage is to first find the right shade. Look at your makeup the way it normally is, is it too light? dark? orange/yellow? blue? Use those answers to adjust the shade (lighter or darker) and the tone (warmer or cooler).

And then apply your makeup carefully, get thin sheer layers by using a foam applicator for liquids and a good brush for powders. Applying a moisturizer just before makeup makes the sheer layers easier. Then buff lightly with a tissue and apply more makeup if needed. Just remember to build coverage in layers rather than slop a ton on in one go.

Being a mark representative (mark is a division of Avon) and a loyal customer of their products I would recommend using their makeup line. My favorite foundation is Powder Buff, a very natural looking pressed powder foundation. But there is also a very good liquid foundation and tinted moisturizer all well priced at around $8.
If your foundation looks 'cakey', you're either using the wrong type, using too much, or not applying it right. It could also be that your skin is not in good condition. You can try using a moisturizer beforehand, that should help some. If you're using liquid foundation, try applying it with a damp makeup sponge. This will help the liquid glide over your skin better, so there's no drag, and you'll get more even coverage. Or you could try a tinted moisturizer, but these don't usually have much coverage. If your skin is pretty good, that's a good option. I like Bare Escentuals mineral foundation, it never looks cakey if applied properly, but that takes a bit of practice. As for powder, use a translucent one, and use a brush to apply.
to avoid having the thick, dry, cakey look you want to moisterize. however, what you want to do is moisterize liberally at night time before bed, wash your face in the morning and then moisterize lightly. If you add too much moisterizer before applying make up, you may look greasy or your foundation my not last as long as you may want. also, it is important that you find your right shade. Another thing, you dont need to apply foundation all over your face, only where you most need it, around discolorations, blemishes and such and make sure you apply with cosmetic sponges, for they apply smoothly as opposed to rubbing it with your fingers and just smearing.
I mix my foundation with a little lotion before I apply it. Thins it out so it's not cakey
dont wear any powder... try some long lasting foundation!

i wear lancome foundation (35$ a bottle at macys), and apply it with a kabuki brush in quick even strokes on small amounts of my face at a time. Then i put some on my neck too, to avoid pancake face. its all abouth blending!

and dont buy cheap makeup like covergirl or maybelline. that stuff sucks, doesnt stay on very long, and clogs your pores easier. plus, it has lower quality ingredients. that stuff really looks fake!
Girl you haven't tried Dream Matte foundation by Mabeline???

    Buy it here:

This is like the best product ever made!! I don't wear foundation everyday. I only wear it when I go 2 parties and I love it! Its so light on the face. It covers imperfection so perfectly!! My mother uses it 2 and she says it covers her so called ';wrinkles'; (please the woman can pass for my sister)
It sounds like you might have dry skin. You should exfoliate. Microderm abrasions are AWESOME!!! The salon one's are fabulous, but you can get an at home treatment as well. It will take all of the dry skin off your face (you should use a thick moisturizer immediately after doing the treatment). Your foundation will look flawless!!!
Try using Bare Minerals brand foundation and concealer. I'm sure you've seen the infomercials about it. The cheapest place to get it is QVC. You can order it on line...My daughter and I both use it, and it's not cakey at all. It really looks natural.
Moisturise 10 minutes before applying make-up. Use a foundation brush to apply foundation and concealer. Remember to use the right colour of foundation for your skin, this is very important to achieve the best, most natural and attractive look for your skin. Your foundation is supposed to improve and make the most of your complexion not cover it up. Your concealer should be two shades lighter than your foundation. Apply a small bit of foundation to each area of your face, one area at a time and blend well, if you want a little more coverage, repeat this step with just a small bit of foundation. Then, put a little concealer on your foundation brush and dab it lightly on the areas you want to cover i.e. over blemishes, under eyes (not necessary if you don't have dark shadows), corner of your nose and mouth etc. I have realised recenly that when I don't apply powder to my face, I look so much more natural and radiant and less caked. I know it's supposed to hold your make-up in place and that's the only reason I ever used it but when I follow the above steps, I never have a problem with my make-up, it stays in place all day long and stays beautiful, for me anyway. I don't know what type of skin you have. Oh yeah and don't forget to add a bit of blusher, smile and apply it with a big brush to the apples of your cheeks right up to your hairline. This will give you a glow and add colour to your skin and also bring out your eyes. Hope this works for you, good luck : )
I found that the only way to avoid this is by using a tinted moisturizer instead of a real heavy foundation. It seems to me that all foundations eventually look ';caked on'; and even seem to crease like around your mouth and forehead. I have had really good luck with Lancome's tinted moisturizer. It is lightweight, yet still has excellent coverage. I apply it with a brush all over my entire face and blend into the neck area as well. Its a bit pricey, $38 for a tube, but it lasts forever. Also, you can even mix in some of your moisturizer with it, that way it blends even easier, and lasts longer!!

What Is The Difference Between Foundation and Concealer?

Hi, I'm a little behind the times, I never wear any makeup, but I want to wear my bangs up today so I need to know what I need to purchase.

I have oily skin, so is there any recommendations? What is the difference between foundation and concealer? What is the best brand for oily skin, and how much does this generally cost? What Is The Difference Between Foundation and Concealer?
Concealer is used sparringly for covering up blemishes here and there--to conceal discolorations... Foundation is full coverage that you apply to your entire face... Foundation goes on OVER concealer.

Hope that helps. :)What Is The Difference Between Foundation and Concealer?
A concealer covers imperfections. You can use it before or after foundation. A foundation evens out your skin tone. It should be the same color as your neck. Make sure to cleanse and moisturize daily. A primer will help smooth out your skin. Use it prior to applying makeup. I recommend Bare Minerals by Bare Escentuals.
Foundation is noticable, concealer kinda isn't as noticible. Foundation is for major cover up, concealer is for mild cover up.
sparrow is right. An foundation evens out skin tone more, concealer is for small places. That's why you put on concealer first: The foundation will make it blend more.
Concealer is used to hide blemishes or under eye circles, while foundation is used to even out the entire skin tone.

What's the difference between foundation and concealer?

I don't get it why by foundation if you have concealer and vice versa?

And why different colored concealers? Tan concealers......yellow concealers.....green concealers....blue concealers.....

What difference does it really make? :/What's the difference between foundation and concealer?
    Hey good question!.

Concealers are only necessary if you have a pigmentation problem (skin color is incorrect/blotchy) such as for example you may have red patches or dark circles under your eyes. Concealers of different colors can be used to correct these color problems.

*Yellow concealer: Used to conceal bluish bruises, under-eye circles and mild red tones on the face

*Lavender concealer: Used to normalize yellow-colored skin imperfections such as sallow complexions and yellow bruises. It can also help conceal very dark under-eye circles and dark spots on bronze skin tones.

*Green concealer: Used to neutralize red tones on the skin. Use this for covering blemishes, zits, red blotches, rosacea, port-wine stains

To understand more about corrective colored concealers to go this website :-)

Foundation is used to smooth over the texture and lightly even out skin tone, it is not as heavy as conceal so generally cant correct serious coloration problems. What's the difference between foundation and concealer?
foundations and concealer are basically the same thing except foundation is for all over face inculding under eyes and concealer is just for under eye area ...y have both? well just think concealer would go awfully quick if you used the one tiny tube all over your face everyday whereas foundation comes in a bigger package /container....green i no is for like redness...but in the end the concealer gets covered and blended with the foundation any how... also im not sure what brand your working with or you may be working with cover girl ultimate finish which is excellent.. if your buying from a drug store i totally recommend purchasing at rite aid because they have acosmetics money back guarantee just save the packaging and the receipt that way if you bought the wrong color you can exchange or get a refund...oh n for your information i saw a news report that says estee lauder max factor dior mac expensive and cheap brands all have the same chemical makeup so they all are the same stuff just packaged different okay so back to your brand if your using covergirl liquid or another type of liquid foundation the crust or thick gooey part that gets stuck inside the cap of the bottle doubles as a concealer so you could ideally use that as your concealer for the eye area.....so judging from your question maybe you are just experimenting with makeup or venturing a lil deeper i strongly recommend that you pratice on days you kno you dont have to leave the house cause once you pratice you'll kno what works for you ...remeber you have to get the hang of it n you dont want to wait til the big day or a hot adate to attempt to put on the ';perfect'; face so you need to practice and see this way you whats to thick of a layer or whats to thin of a layer cause i dont want you to look cakey also make sure you dont forget to blend a little below your chin line and blend up into the hair line if your hair get a little foundation on it yopur hair will survive i just hate wen i see girls/grown women out there wearing foiundation that is streaky and so obvious........DONT FORGET THE POWDER...GOOD LUCK TO YA
Foundation is to even out skin tone and for all over the face.

Concealer is to get rid of imperfections... tan is just to cover-up. Yellow is for certain types of skin (like, Latino works best with yellow). Green is to counteract redness, and blue, uh, doesn't exist.

You'd be surprised at the difference it makes. :-P
foundation is to even out skin tone and to be used all over your face and concealer is used for extra coverage where foundation isn't enough for blemishes and such

green is to counteract redness've never heard of blue though

    :]
foundation covers all over your face like freckles, beauty marks and blotchiness(stuff that takes a long time to get rid of permentaly) while concellers covers up dark circles and pimples (stuff that is easily taken care of) I hopee that helps :D
Foundation its to even out your skin tone...and it normally goes all over your face, while the concealer you can put it under the eyes, or in a spot or a pimple.

    =D
Concealer is usually much more think than foundation, and will generally cover flaws like dark circles, or other skin imperfections better than most foundations.

  • What do you think of Mac Studio Sculpt foundation and concealer?

I want to buy the concealer and maybe try the foundation. I have oily / combination skin so I need long lasting coverage and a concealer that covers redness, and spots.

I like the sound of the formulae as I used Benefits erase paste for a bit and it was really good, creamy and long lasting, but not dull and matte.

Is that what studio sculpt is like and is it any good?

Thanks! What do you think of Mac Studio Sculpt foundation and concealer?
I have oily skin too, and I didn't care much for studio sculpt foundation. It made my pores look HUGE, and it didn't work well with my oily skin.

The concealer is decent, but I like studio fix concealer a bit better.

If you've got oily skin, try to go for a powder foundation. Talk to an Artist the next time you're near a MAC and see if you can get a foundation demo. They'll help you figure out the right shade and type of foundation for your skin type and skin tone, and give you a free application. Wear the foundation for a day and see if you like it. I use Studio Fix powder, and I love it. It gives great light/medium coverage when applied with a regular powder brush, but can be applied with a flat top kabuki brush for fuller coverage too.

Hope this helps! What do you think of Mac Studio Sculpt foundation and concealer?
Mac Studio Sculpt is a good foundation (i personally prefer Studio Fix for overall look) %26amp; the concealer's pretty good too, but personally I think if you're looking for a more long lasting foundation try something like Revlon Colourstay, Estee Lauder Double Wear or Dior Forever - all 3 have great, long lasting staying power %26amp; good coverage, esp. for people with combination/oily skin.

Mac's Studio Fix concealer is good (the soild one) also I find for good redness/spot coverage Benefit's Bo-ing concealer is really good.

I've tried LOADS of concealers in my time %26amp; these 2 i always go back to.

    Hope that helps :)
I got the foundation the other day and I like it.

The coverage is very very good and you need to be careful not to apply too much. I have oily/combination skin and I do find it lasts a good while on me, a whole school day without going patchy or orange.

The finish is satinish, which I usually don't like for my oily skin as it tends to be more shiny, but it wasn't TOO bad. However I would definitely reccomend powder on top of this for oily skin.

I haven't tried the cnceaer but it looks great! I would soo go for that.
i have oily skin aswell so i always use shesido oil blotting sheets, then i just put a light moisturiser on, i use studio sculpt foundation and concealer from mac, i love it even if im having a really bad skin day ill put that on and my skin just looks great. and have you seen the new mac lipsticks with hello kitty on their so cute.
When I last bought my foundation the girl tried the Studio Sculpt on one half of my face and Studio Sculpt Fluid on the other half. The Studio Sculpt Fluid sat much better on my skin, which is oily/combination too.

I would definitely go into the shop and try them out to see how they feel, and look, before you buy.
I think studio sculpt is for drier skin types.. studio sculpt is a medium coverage satin finish.. I suggest you buy chanel teint innocence it's totally amazing for your skin type, it covers well, looks perfect all day and has a nice dewey glow.
I ordered the concealer and foundation, I asked this question the other day and got awesome feedback. I'm excited - I'm sure you'll really like it !
i cantttttttttt wait to get studio scuplt!!!!! i have comanation skin too! and it soulds good Alot of people like and love it and some hate it, I think im going to like it!!

    Go For it!
    studio scuplt is rubbish

clumpy in dry areas and gives hardly any coverage

    don't waste your money!
I use the concealer, and that's all. its works miracles.
I think its so good!! But the mac studio fix is so crap!!! x

What is the best way to apply Estee Lauder double wear foundation and concealer?

I was wondering would anybody have any tips on the best way to apply Estee Lauder double wear foundation and double wear concealer. When I apply the concealer it looks fine but minutes later it looks a little dried out and I am trying to find a way to make the foundation look its best? Thanks xxWhat is the best way to apply Estee Lauder double wear foundation and concealer?
I've tried this foundation becfore and it was about an 8 from a 1-10 scale, so it ws pretty good. after expirimenting i realized it looks a lottttt better when applied with a foundation blush, i used MAC 190 brush then i apply the cream bronzer with the MAC188 it's amazing and looks SOOOO much better when applied with the foundation brush, personally since the texture of that liquid wasn't so lightweight it was better applied with a brush than with a spondge because it dried quick and it all got on my makeup spondge rather than my face :{. and for some reason the brush locked it in more and it lasted ALL day long, and always lock in the foundation with lightweight foundation powder :] Good luck, xoxoxxxWhat is the best way to apply Estee Lauder double wear foundation and concealer?
Cleanse, tone and moisturise beforehand. If short of cash, you can cleanse your face with soap first, then tone your face with cold water and then mositurise. Allow your face to rest for five minutes or so before applying the make up. This will provide a base for the make up and prevent that dried out look.
try applying moisturizer to your skin before application.. that usually works to keep it from drying out.. dior has a moisture lotion for the face that is really great. you may try using a concealer that is oil based instead as you seem to have a dry t-zone area. moisturizing first will probably solve the problem.

What is the best primer & also what foundation and concealer last the longest?

    Hi.

Would love to know about the primer you use and that you can reccomend for me. Also I'm looking for a foundation and concealer that you have used that lasts for more then 7 hours as i've tried several before that claim to last 16 hours but never do.

If you have any other makeup tips please let me know.

Thanks!!!What is the best primer %26amp; also what foundation and concealer last the longest?
Hi! I've tried a bunch primers, foundations, and concealers over the years- and geez, it's SO HARD To find anything good!

So here are the best products i've found:

Primer: MAC Prep + Prime SPF 50

Foundation: If you have oily skin, then Makeup Forever Mat Velvet+ Foundation, and if not, then Makeup Forever HD Foundation

Concealer: MAC studio finish SPF 30 (my color: NC25)

    They work wonders.

Don't use smashbox primers- (trust me, i've tried them!)

Don't use Clinique foundations or concealers..

And, if you really want a flawless finish that stays on all day-

i suggest you get some MAC Fix +, spray it on your foundation brush (powder) like.. 187 stippling brush (gives you a FLAWLESS finish, perfect skin!), and just stipple it on your face, it'll help give you a dewy beautiful finish and keep the makeup on for the day.

Also, i suggest you get the Makeup Forever HD microfinish powder, it's AWESOME!!

So, happy makeup-ing, and beautiful skin to you! What is the best primer %26amp; also what foundation and concealer last the longest?
    BB creams! :)

The BB Cream, aka Blemish Balm, is the hottest beauty product in Asia right now. It has the advantages of both a makeup and skincare product. It can even out skintone, camouflage undereye circles, acne scars and add radiance to the skin without the heavy mask-like effects of a foundation.

    http://lavidafashionistas.blogspot.com/
    MAC all the way!!

I use their concealer and studio fix which is a combination of foundation and powder, they work amazing! I've heard their primers are really good too!
    Cosmetics are Un-Natural!

How do you apply foundation with concealer + powder on top of it, properly?

Specifically for under eye circles. I don't really have any problems doing so with my blemishes, but my circles are pretty bad. I also don't want them to look cakey, or too light :S Thanks for the help guys! How do you apply foundation with concealer + powder on top of it, properly?
When choosing a shade for concealer, you want it to be 1 shade lighter than your skin tone. IF you have purplish/green under eye circles use a pinkish concealer, for normal under eye circles you should be using something that has a yellow tint to it and should be creamy to the touch, never greasy or powdery. When applying concealer do it in thin layers. Dot on concealer under the eye and gently pat into your skin with your ring finger to distribute the color. Go all the way up to your lash line. After this dries, and it looks like you can still see your undereye circles put on another layer. Make sure you set this with a yellow face powder so it won't budge. You can also use those cream highlighters to reflect light off your skin so your under eyes look fresh. How do you apply foundation with concealer + powder on top of it, properly?
concealer ALWAYS!!! goes first, you apply it in dots under your eyes, blemishes and imperfections. and you then blend it in, and apply more if needed. After that you apply foundation (liquid works best) also in dots and blend them in using a sponge. After foundation, loose powder is applied evenly, some on your neck. After that your blush, and the rest of your regular routine. Woppie's answer is a perfect example of concealer application.
ok well i am a mary kay beauty consultant and make up is a bad idea to cover it up. i would suggest some eye firming cream and age fighting moisturizer. Mary Kay has some amazing products not saying that's what you have to buy but im telling you they work. Im not calling you old either i use the products and im on 20 years old.

however for the makeup situation i would honestly go with the face that less is more don't use so much makeup products to cover things up that will honestly just make them stand out more.
    THIS IS WHAT I DO

First, I apply foundation dots all over the face (small amount of foundation, you don't need much), then I blend it with a sponge, you can also use a brush or your fingers

THEN.. I apply concealer for pimples, imperfections and under eye dark circles I dot it too and blend it with my ring finger...

Finally I apply powder with a brush to seal it!

I do circular motions and voila!!

MANY PPL SAY IT IS BETTER TO APPLY CONCEALER BEFORE FOUNDATION,.. but that is really up to you

I apply concealer later, bc I have very dark circles under my eyes..

    sooo

    HOPE I HELPED!!!!

    :)
take a concealer (should be a lighter color than your foundation) and cover up the circles with a brush. then apply your foundation as normal (its ok to go over the top of the concealer). if needed, take a sponge and blend it all. then put some powder over the whole face to set it, with a brush.
I use Dinair Airbursh Makeup and it is concealer, foundation all in one. It takes me under five mins to do it all. It is seriously the best make ive ever used. you should google Dinair and you'll find their site.

How to pick a foundation and concealer color at a drugstore/walmart/target?

So, I have a tendency to become hesitant in buying foundations/concealers/powders at like a drugstore or walmart because its hard to get the right shade for my skin color. And MAC is a bit pricey so i want to try an alternative. but since there isn't a beauty expert on hand at a drugstore to help pick a color. how can i find my skin tone?

thanksHow to pick a foundation and concealer color at a drugstore/walmart/target?
Choosing foundations at the drugstore can be really difficult. I suggest bringing a compact mirror with you so that you can check out your skin tone when looking at shades. Another thing that might help if you're unsure is to buy two shades like light and light-medium and you can always mix them together to match your skin tone exactly.

You could also try something like Revlon Custom Creations which allows you to mix amounts of two shades by turning a dial.

Another choice is Almay Smart Shade makeup which transforms to a shade to match your skin. I have tried this personally and can say that it truly does work.

Depending on the coverage you want you could also try a tinted moisturizer in which case the color doesn't have to be as perfect because it blends well and has very light coverage.

What is the BEST drugstore foundation/concealer?

I have oily skin and I sometimes break out easily.

I have a lot of acne scars and I want to cover it all up!What is the BEST drugstore foundation/concealer?
    Hi = )

I have oily/red skin and I started using Revlon's Colorstay liquid foundation for oily/combination skin and their concealer and I love it.

I use the lightest shade and mix it with moisturizer and it covers everything up really really nicely. And I only have to use a TINY bit to cover my whole face.

    it looks like this: http://revlon.com/ProductCatalog/Product…

just make sure you get the kind that's for OILY/COMBINATION skin. it says it right on the bottle.

    and the

    concealer: http://revlon.com/ProductCatalog/Product…

I always apply the foundation with a big round sponge.

And their concealer is so good. It lasts all day and wont budge, EVEN if you go swimming or sweat all day.

    I highly recommend it.

I always dust over with powder after I put on my make up to help it set. I use Maybelline's oil-control powder

    http://www.maybelline.com/Product/Face/P…

It lasts forever and really helps with oil.

Also, for touch ups I use NYC's mineral powder foundation.

    it looks like this:

    I LOVE THIS STUFF.

You will be shocked at how well it covers and it's only 4 dollars!!

I get all these products at Target, Wal-Mart, drugstores etc.

The revlon foundation is a bit more pricey (9 dollars), but it is amazing and I would never use another liquid foundation.

I just gave you all my secrets!

hope this helps. It all works very nicely for my red/oily skin,

good luckWhat is the BEST drugstore foundation/concealer?
    I'm Asian, if you're Asian too! :D

So I can give you a good idea of foundation that I use that might work for you, since I'm Asian.

Liquid: (Covers acne scars the best)

    1. Revlon Colorstay (I heard this foundation was wonderful)

    2. Rimmel Lasting Finish 16hr. (Mineral foundation, so this is good, it gives heavy coverage, and it's oil free!) - I use this, it works WONDERFUL.

Mineral Makeup (Powder) (Still covers acne scars, and is better for your skin + more natural looking)

    1. L'Oreal Bare Naturale Mineral Makeup foundation

    2. Physician's Formula Mineral Wear Talc-Free foundation. (It's talc free and it works WONDERFUl, I use it)

And here is an Asian girl on Youtube who does reviews of foundation so this might help! :)

Edit: Sorry if this brings anybody else's answers down, I don't mean this offensively.

But New York Colour foundations are awful, and dream matte mousse settles into fine lines.
I'm not Asian but my best friend is and I usually shop with her for makeup, as most colors look too light or dark on her. The BEST, and I'm not even kidding you, is Sonia Kashuk's Hidden Agenda Concealer Kit. She's an NC 35 but on Fall and Winter she's a 30. She's had it for 7 months and she loves it. The kit includes four colors, with a primer, which you mix to get your coloring. You can't tell she's got makeup on, she looks as if she was either photoshopped, or was born that way. The point is, the texture and the formula leave her skin looking flawless, and she suffers from severe acne: She's got the red spots to prove it. Also, Sonia Kashuk's Tinted Moisturizer is brilliant. She uses that too. It gives her this, almost ethereal glow. She calls it the ';orgasmic'; glow. They both give medium to extensive coverage, look how I didn't use heavy. You can find them at Target. They are a splurge, at about $11 each, but the sizes are huge and trust me you won't regret them. If you need help on taking care of your skin and makeup advice, I urge you to check out the makeupalley.com site. It's heaveeeen!

    Hi Xiao Mei.

I think thats what it is? My chinese sucks.

I have maybelline dream matte mousse, it sounds super but its acutally not that bad. It has some great coverage.

    Loreal makes good concealers.

May I recommend the Loreal Bare Naturale powder?

Its so nice and light. (I know you didnt ask for powder)

Loreal is definately a good brand.
I recommend you buy a foundation with SPF. Sun is No1 factor for aging, even if you are not directly exposed to it. Paula's Choice has very good foundations:

For Indian skin tone. Most foundations are pinkish while I'm brown with yellowish tones.

And I'm asking for common, well known drug store/pharmacy brands only please.Which brand foundation/concealer has the largest colour range?
Try Loreal,my Indian friends use it and they look hot in it.They got really rich golden brown colors! And there's different undertones(warm and cool) so that it fits you even better.Which brand foundation/concealer has the largest colour range?
    x[mac or iman cosmetics]x
Try MAC, foundations come in a very large range of color, if you have yellow undertones try using a NC 30 for medium or NC 35, NC37 and so on, depending on how dark your skin is...the larger the number the darker the shade, but as long as you look for NC's it is suitable for a yellow undertone. L'Oreal True Match has dozens of colors and they come in warm, neutral or cool tones. They are supposedly formulated to blend into any skin tone seamlessly-- I don't know about that, but I've had really good luck with the range. This foundation is pretty easy to find anywhere that sells makeup and it usually goes for around $8 a bottle.

Even though I have pinkish undertones, I think yellow-toned foundation is so much more flattering so I always select the colors with warmer undertones.

Another nice thing about the line is that they also make True Match powders, concealers and blushes formulated for different skin tones, that work really well in combination with the foundation.

    Good luck!
